Okay everyone.. I have never had a female dog before so I am completely lost. About 3..? weeks ago, I noticed that Maggie was bleeding a little - just a couple of drops here and there. I had heard that older dogs don't bleed that much so I assumed she was in heat. We kept her on a leash outside and I didn't take her to the dog park for 2 weeks (I had it marked on my calendar). I waited 2 whole weeks so I thought I was in the clear, right? Well.. today she started bleeding a LOT more - not unusually so but more than I had seen or thought she would bleed. SO she's back in the diaper. What does this mean? Is she in heat? If she's in heat now, why was she bleeding 3 weeks ago? Is she in the beginning of the heat, or the middle?
We were planning to get her spayed but then she went into heat so we had to wait and I was literally going to call and make the appointment tomorrow! What do I do? How long should I wait before having her spayed?
HELP!
