No I don't think the travel would be bad for him. As he would fly in the cabin with you (in a airline approved bag) it is considered your carry on baggage.
Also, what food are you feeding him? And what treats?
You should know that his protein intake needs to be low, but quality protein. Bad protein (which causes a lot of ammonia) comes from Meat and Organ Meat. That also means that most treats and chew stick are no good either.
Good low and quality protein is best from Cottage Cheese and Eggs, but this needs to be minimal and the rest filled with veggies and good healthy carbs.
