I agree with the above. It sounds like you both have the pup's best interest right now, but i just wanted to share my concerns about the future: how you and your current pup take it if she decides she wanted her yorkie back when the twins are older. Around age 5-6 they go to school and a lot of kids have pets -- it would be a hard situation, since you are friends.
