If she was shivering, after running around, it probably hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia occurs when they have used up all their stored energy, and the blood sugar drops, rubbing a little Karo syrup or Nutri-cal on the roof or the mouth helps. Hypoglycemia also causes them to feel cold, so warming them helps, but food should be given. If your dog is really small, under 4 pounds, you might consider free feeding during the day, or at least feeding more often, so that this doesn't occur. If the shiver occurs at other times, it probably just due to them feeling cold, and no food would be needed. Joey's breeder told me if you need a sweater; so do they.
