Is this just a phase?? She is teething now, but I'm almost positive she was doing this before she started teething. I feed her Wellness Super 5 Puppy (before that she was on PurinaOne). One of the reasons I switched her to Wellness was because someone had said that when THEY switched their dog's tearing had all but stopped (in addition to wanting her to be on a better food of course). For awhile I thought maybe this is normal, but I see sooooo many Yorkie pics on here that look like sweet, dry little faces. What am I doing wrong, or what could I do differently that may help? (Oh yeah, I asked one of my vets about it a long time ago, so he checked and said that she doesn't have the little hairs at the corners of her eyes that cause some dogs to tear, but he didn't say anything else about it. I'm going to my favorite vet tomorrow because I think she may have acid reflux, so I'll ask him too, but I wanted to check with my fellow YT'ers and see what you all say.....I just want everyone else to think she's as adorable as I do! I'm sure they probably already do, but I don't want wet tears to detract from her beauty! ) |

There isn't anything they can do about it so i'm guessing it is genetic for mine. |
I am very very interested in the acid reflux info. What makes you think she has it and I would love to hear what the vet says. I think Desiree has it and now I think she has ulcers. She's also a worrier.
The tear duct thing is interesting. How big are the ones with the problem and how big are the ones without it? My two both have it and it's constant. The smaller 2 3/4 lb one's face gets so crusty along that path of the tears that you'd swear she had a stick stuck in her hair. The bigger one at 3 1/4 lb, hers runs all day as long as she's active.
I was told by a groomer that they sweat from the bridge of their nose, maybe it is accurate because it always gets more severe when they are running around like crazy.
I posted that before asking if anyone else heard it. But no one replied.
