Default Very veryConfused about Chicago Dog Licenses.

Ok....so I heard this was a dog friendly town, but it kind of seems like they treat dog ownership like quite the luxury.

All the dog parks in Evanston cost 40 or 50 bucks per year.
Which was kind of surprising to me since I am used to the volunteer run free NYC parks. But..I'm over that. They're really nice and probably take a lot of upkeep so I'll join next year. This year is a bit late for the beach.

The real confusion surrounds the city parks.

It seems like you need a vet visit and proof/updated vaccinations in order to get a DFA tag/permit. However, in order to enter to the park you also need a Chicago City dog License which requires proof of vaccination. Soooo isn't that a bit redundant? Its only 5 bucks for both but still..it just seems silly. Especially since I've read that you have to get the DFA permit at the vet, so if you get your vaccines from a vet that doesn't give DFA permits another vet that does won't just accept proof of vaccines and give you the permit. So I'm assuming then I wouldn't be able to just submit proof of the vaccines I already got from getting the License to get the DFA permit either.
Am I totally wrong about this? I hope I am.

I really would like to just pay a vet fee once and use the written proof for all other permit purposes. If this is possible please let me know.

I don't want to miss Riverside park for the next five years.
