I heard that that rule doesn't hold true, until they are older, most puppy's eyes flash blue, but I'm not sure at what age it changes, so maybe at 4 months it will work. I do know that cotton coats mat more than silk coats, so if you are having lots of problems with matting, it might be a cotton coat.
