Hi, I used to show Chinese Shar-Pei and had all mine chipped. I never had a problem. This is going back 12 years or so. My vet always recommends chipping even for pets. It saves you alot of heartache if they go missing. I had my 9 month old Yorkie done when he was 6 months old. I think all the things you mentioned could possibly happen, But tha rewards out weigh the Risks... I think it's better to be safe than sorry... I hope this helps you make your decision!!
