I called the vet at about 12:30 to see what was going on. He thinks the problem was that as he vomited he might've had a reverse sneezing episode but wants to do some bloodwork on him and will call me back within an hour. He said that he will be sending him home with some allergy medication and perhaps something for vomiting. If something major shows up with the bloodwork then he'll have to stay there at least overnight, but that right now it appears to stem from a reverse sneezing. i am supposed to hear back within an hour. I will update later tonight when I get off work on whether or not he is sitting at my feet
