This behavior needs to be stopped immediately. If she isn't properly trained her aggressive behavior will worsen. The very instant that she displays any aggressive signs (growling, barking) he needs to grab her by the scruff of her neck, shout NO and put her onto her back maintaining eye contact until she looks away and calms. When she calms he can release pressure and praise her. He can also try to reward her with treats at any sign of friendliness. Cheerios are great. She may be reacting out of fear from his size, so he should try approaching her from floor level.
