With the new Beverly Hills Chihuahua Disney movie, rescue groups and shelters are expecting a surge of abandoned Chihuahuas. People go out and buy one for the kids after seeing the movie, not understanding the responsibilities, and abandon them later after the novelty wears off or reality sets in.
The American Dog magazine sold here in Denver and Chicago is offering a free subscription to those who buy their kid a toy Chihuahua instead and send in the receipt.

Chihuahua rescues are gearing up. You can do your part by boycotting the movie and discouraging people you know from buying a Chihuahua just because they thought it was cute in the movie. Educate them about the responsibilities and commitments of owning a pet, especially a tiny one.
