I home cook for Layla and have for about a year and a half. It works so great for us! You can boil chicken or extra lean ground beef.. or bake some fish.... and you can put veggies in a food processor and give white rice or better yet, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, potato, sweet potato.... the possibilities are endless as long as the meat has a VERY low fat content.

You can give fruit (no grapes or skin on the fruit), yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs....

but you HAVE to supplement. YOu can buy supplements that are made for home cooking- usually at a speciality pet boutique. I also highly recommend getting a blood panel done at the vet's office twice a year to make sure your pup is getting everything he/she needs nutritionally

if you are looking for a book- try Dr. Pitcairn's guide to healthy cats and dogs (or something like that ) It's a great starter book.. you don't have to agree with it all ( i don't ) but it tells you great foods you can give and gives you great receipes.
