How should I go about getting her used to it? Is a dog ever getting used to being left on it's own? I read this scary article claiming that a dog believes you will never come back every time you leave it and therefore goes through a trauma every time you walk out the door, never getting used to it. That sounds horrid and makes me wonder how people have dogs at all and try to run a semi normal life. Please if anyone could give me a tip on this I would be very grateful .
The most ideal solution might be to get another yorkie/dog so that she has company when you are gone, and they can play with each other (as long as they get along and do not fight). If that's not possible, then you might also consider doggy day care. But if she is not going to be home alone, then it should be fine staying at your parents house. just have them give her treats when she visits, so she associates going to your parents house with good things.

Good luck!
