Yes, Bandito is very young 8 weeks old, the breeder wanted him with mom until he was at least 12 weeks and then mom got out and took off into the road and was hit by a car, she will be ok but she is having to stay a the vet until the surgery for her hip is done Monday. So the breeder called and said they were doing good on dry food and asked if we wanted to go ahead and pick him up since mom will not be able to care for them.
We agreed and now we have a very young puppy. I can say that we decided on a litter box with a sifter and to put the pad on the bottom before the sifter to see if this will work. We were going to use our Xtra large crate that our Golden had to make a den on one side and potty tray on the other. Then I googled myself into even more confusion when so much advice is given about doing that within the crate (even though it is really large and lots of space).
So, we just keep taking him out every hour during the day and three hours during the night, we have only had one accident but I am sure that has more to do with our going outside with him so much in our back yard and not because I have an exceptionally easy to potty train puppy ( I do wish ).
I have survived two children (boys) an adult child (hubby) and my wonderful QH Bob yet for this little bandito ............. I feel so unprepared and completely lost????
