Welcome to YT! Your little Greysee sounds like a typical little Yorkie girl!
We trained our Toto to the wee wee pad because she is very small and we had to be careful because of her size. This has worked beautifully for us because our work takes us to different areas of the country. We have been in Colorado for several years and quite frankly, I don't like going out in the snow either.
As she got older, she also learned that it's OK to potty outside ... I suppose you could call it "cross training"! It's really nice that she goes potty both places. If Greysee always pottys in the same spot, you might try putting a pad there and she may be easily trained to go to it.
I hope your wife does well with her recovery and will soon be able to enjoy little Greysee with you! Just remember, Dad, you have to share!
