It's 2 weeks after the storm and there are still staging areas (many) giving away hot meals, MRE's, paper towels, bottled water, garbage bags, ice and..and even the blessed diaper that so many need but have no money for because they lost so many days of work. Driving down the main street in Bridge City yesterday I saw a big piece of plywood leaned up against a church that said FREE HOT MEAL..WE FEED ANYONE. So many are so grateful. In the local papers the food stations are kept updated with locations and times.
It's the local churches, Red Cross and Salvation Army that are looking after us folks down here..FEMA is here to help with paperwork, but you gotta look for them. It IS a shame that it isn't being covered more than it has..I think we all know it's not going away anytime soon. My son and his little family have come home to a total loss and have had to head back to a hotel..finally found one 200 miles away in Baton Rouge. My two autistic grandsons are not handling it well.
