Please go ahead and make that appointment to get her spayed so she doesn't go through another heat.

If you had had her spayed before she ever came into heat you would have eliminated her chance of ever getting mammary cancer. You can still keep that risk low (only 8%) if you get her spayed before she comes into heat again. If she has that second heat, her risk of mammary cancer jumps to 25%.

You'll also never have to worry about an accidental pregnancy again.
