I just got Bailey last week and the breeder had him on Nutro lamb and rice so that's what I bought but I had planned to switch to a better quality later anyway so I guess I'll start now. Just now checked the label and it says made in usa but I wonder how many different dog foods are made in China. That's scary! |
Please note for future reference: The dog food manufacturers are only required to state in the ingredients disclaimer what *THEY* have added to the food. When they purchase the various ingredients with whatever additives there are, nothing has to be disclosed. Put another way, what they add to the food has to be declared; but the contents of various ingredients they purchase ... they're not responsible to disclose.
Therefore, unless the manufacturer is very careful with their suppliers, even the BEST of them can get contaminated ingredients - but they're not responsible to put the origen disclosure on the bags.
Look at it this way: When the U.S. market got all up in a huff about the addition of melamine (supposedly used to boost protein levels) in our DOG food and refused to buy it, the Chinese decided it would be good enough to add to baby formula. HUMAN baby formula.
I have no idea where their sense of morality is. Melamine used to be used for plastic plates, cups, etc. Fancy stuff for homes, inexpensive stuff for diners and the like ... because it was plastic, long wearing, and didn't break. Please explain to me how *plastic* can be a protein source?
Meanwhile, it's getting nearly impossible to feel safe feeding our furry companions anything that's purchased in a store
