Hey there,

I personally do not consider drinking more water as bad - logically, a living being can't have too much water can they?

Yes, the water in his food may have caused him to drink less water before, but if you're not watering his food now and he's drinking more water, I do not see anything wrong with it. As far as I know, dogs do not know how much water they should be drinking, so that watering their kibble is GOOD, as kibble absorb water in their stomach. Unless you are feeding them food with citric acid as preservatives. You should not water these - they will cause bloat when mixed with water. Aside from that, more water is not a concern, at least according to what I've read.

You can read this here:
The Dog Food Project - Nutrients: Water

Quote from the same site:
Quote:
Dogs who eat mostly canned food or a home prepared diet automatically take in more moisture and do not need to compensate as much by drinking. Contrary to what many people think and pet food companies claim, dogs (and cats) do not know instinctively how much extra water they have to drink to make up for what is lacking in the dry food. This is why I so highly recommend that people always add water to the kibble at feeding time.
From what I've read, less stool = not necessarily bad. It may mean that your baby is processing the food better. My dogs gets dry kibble because they hate it being watered down, but they drink like small camels so I don't worry

Tell me if I've explained things nicely If not I will try again, or others here will be much better at this than I am
