I had my springer spaniel neutered at 10 months. It seemed to mellow him. We were also able to do ALOT more training after that, because he was more attentative. I don't know if that was because of the neuter or because he was a little older. He did gain about 8lbs after he was "fixed". He was so lanky at about 31-32lbs. 3 months after his surgery he was a sturdy 40lbs!! My vet said that was normal, as long as he doens't become overwieght. Captain Jack will be 5 month this weekend. He is getting neutered in 2 weeks. I let him out to go potty sunday morning, and he ran right up to a tree in our yard and hiked his leg I made the appointment the next day!!! I thought he was very young to be hiking!!!! He hiked it so high he almost fell over backward... it was so funny....but only for a second....I am definitely against hiking!!!
