Is there a time when I can let him have full range of the house as a puppy so that he will learn to follow me everywhere?
You don't need to train them to follow you, they do it instinctually. My boys have full run of the house, they always did. Even as pups. (granted I have a pretty small house) but I had to carry them up stairs until they were about 4 months old. When you are not home though make sure you keep your pup crated though, for his own safety and the safety of your house! Trust me!
