How old is he? As puppies they all have the black and gold hair. I'd say, if he has a lot of white breaking through on his head, most likely he will have lighter head and same with the body if you see white breaking through the black (like roots). My girl Mia is very dark. She had absolutely no white breaking through the black as a puppy and stayed very dark.
