Day 4
I took the dog to socialize with a friends Jack Russel Terrier last night, went ok (the other Terrier is an adult and very nervous - but just avoided the puppy).
Last night the puppy slept for 5 hours straight (best night of sleep for me in awhile).
I'm starting to crate more during the day so that the dog gets used to the idea. Its crate for 1 - 2 hours then food/potty time/play time, repeat. It seems to be working well.
Good sign today! The puppy started to scratch wildly at a door and it confused me for a moment, then i saw her start to squat! I snapped her up (thankfully it was a poo so it was slow to start) and got her outside. The idea that outside is for potty is gaining a foothold.
I also attempted the first 'walk on a leash in the yard', it went - uh... as good as can be expected.
I have some play dates setup with some friends (fully vaccinated) dogs so that she can start to socialize more. I also want to find people of all races and people in uniform so that she gets used to all kinds of people.
She seems to be doing well, and i'm trying to stay calm assertive at all times when she is around.
