V~I think you put 2 different posts together. OP has the pits and Dara311 suggested she put the new puppy in the basement.
BTW I would not suggest putting any puppy into the basement to sleep. Basements are cold and damp and most have things like sumpumps, chemicals, and other hazards what a little one could get into.
If it has only been 2 days and he's in a very large crate, you need to make the crate smaller and not take him out. It might seem like he is crying all night long but he is just an infant and misses his family.
Puppies do not sleep all night, they get up and need to potty so you WILL need to adjust your schedule to take care of him.
