Your yorkie puppies could be crying from because they're lonely....maybe put the crate near you so they know you're right there ??? ...when you get a new puppy they're in a new enviornment ...and it's going to take some human contact to help them adjust
I agree ... even when Toto slept in her crate, we placed it in our bedroom with a nightlight and she could see us and was fine. She began sleeping with us when we decided she could, not because she cried for us.

[Also, I would never have a small dog in my home if I had pitbulls ... even if they did live in the basement.]
