Stella has been on Atopica for several months. They have to take it daily for a month before you can try decreasing to every other day. It has helped a great deal with her scratching and the only side effect I've seen is an upset tummy sometimes. Directions are to give it 1 hour before eating or 2 hours after, 1 hour before made her majorly sick. Two hours after wasn't long enough, now I try for at least 3 hours after eating.
We had tried 2 prescription antihistamines prior, she had a reaction to both of them. One physical and the other was paranoia.
She is on the 10mg every other day and weighs around 5.5 lbs, this is a long term treatment.
