Dianne, Halloween is an American Tradition but it didn't orginate in the U.S. It's from the Celtic holidays of All Saints and All Souls day. It's really pretty interesting stuff. I did a speech on it once in college. Anyway, if you do a search for it on the internet you can find a lot of info.
