I have had a number of single pups over the years. 75% needed a C-section.
Of course, pups can die from a c-section birth as well as natural one. It is a decision each must make for themselves. If the pup's head is small enough to pass through the birth canal (x-ray) then I would permit her to labor for 30 mins to produce a water sack...and no more then one hour after the sack has been presended...best wishes
PS..I find the average pup is 3 to 5 oz..less then that is a wee thing and more is a fat thing! LOL
PS again...alot will be determined if this pup comes heads or tails..tails first is a BITCH for the bitch if she has never whelped in the past.
