I use a tear-stain cleaning solution (I think the one I have is Four Paws Crystal Eyes) first - wipe it on with a cotton pad - and then the flea comb to get it off the hair. Maybe you don't need the tear-stain stuff but it's good because it moistens the dry eye boogers enough to get the comb through easily. A wet rag would do the same without the "tear-stain cleaning agent".
The eyebrow comb is a really great idea too!
