What you are dealing with is what is called leash aggresion or frustration.
Dogs do not walk at each other in a stright line if allowed. They bend out and around to the butt end.
We make our dogs walk in a stright line and tighten up the leash as we know they are going to go of like a rocket. As soon as the leash gets tight off goes the dog like a rocket.
At the groomers they are free to do as they please and are under the conrtol of usually some pretty dog wise and the dogs they know it.
