I think there are two clear "groups" of people here: The side that values the traditional, standard Yorkies, wants to see it preserved and supports the YTCA's stance and efforts to do that.....and the side that doesn't.
Then there are people in that gray, middle area who don't neccessarily condemn breeding off-colored Yorkies, but condemn anyone doing it unethically--and that goes for ANY Yorkie/dog, regardless of color.
If people don't agree with another's practices, whatever they are, or see things that they or many others feel as "questionable" they have a right to their own opinion, plain and simple.
If people are of the opinion that only traditional colored Yorkies should be bred, then obviously if you are breeding anything else, they are going to disapprove. It's not because people are uneducated on the breed, or fearing competition in sales (HA!) or any of the other ridiculous claims that have been made--it's because that is simply the way they FEEL and what they believe.
In regards to people 'speaking about a breeder they do not know'-- There are many aspects of a breeding program that the majority of Yorkie enthusiast, both on YT and off, have come to recognize as "red flags" that others are warned against with ANY breeder. When identified, others are 'warned' regarding these indicators--as something you would definately want clarification on from the breeder. Some my pan out as having a good explanations, some may not but they are definately things you would want to be aware of. And some may just be because it's a practice not agreed with. You don't have to "know" a person to see what is written by THEM in black and white in front of your face, on their own site.
Bottom line is, there are alot of these "red flags" on the site currently in question. (Gwen's site, Steppin' in Style) I don't think it was JUST the practice of breeding non-standard colored dogs that concerned people. The OP had every right in starting this thread! They found a site, had questions about it and asked for opinions.
In the end, it's up to people as individuals to decide how they feel about any breeder and his/her practices. But if someone here or elsewhere feels like there is something that IN THEIR OPINION is questionable, they have a right to point it out. And many people who don't know what to look for in a "good breeder" appreciate and come here specifically for that information.
