I love the puppy cut, and thought I would always love the puppy cut, but something happened and gradually I fell in love with the longer hair, seeing a Yorkie run with longer hair really convinced me, it was extraordinarily beautiful. Joey is blessed with great hair, so it was a no brainer to let it grow. If your Yorkie has silky hair, time needed on long hair is negligible. The topknot is the only thing that takes time, and that's just a few minutes. However, if you Yorkie has a cotton coat, I think the puppy coat is a much easier look to deal with. Cotton coats tend to mat, and the longer hair, would make matting more problematic, however some people whose Yorkies have cotton coats grow it out long.
