Well, this is your gut being VERY SMART indeed! You know where the WORST places to be for a sick person is? A hospital!
When I was in nursing school, I had to do a term paper for my Microbiology class - it was probably my *favorite* paper I ever did (and I hated papers, btw!). Anyway, it was about
Nosocomial Infections - a huge topic in hospitals. Basically, it's an infection caught by a person from just being IN a hospital/clinic - because infectious agents in hospitals/clinics are RAMPANT.
So really, this also applies to animals - there are germs/infectious agents in vet clinics. So, it's wise to protect your babies.
