Just because a traditional colored yorkie looks blue and tan, doesn't mean that they don't have a "swimming pool" full of hidden genes. Where Zane is focusing in on breeding genes (golden and parti) that have come out of the closet, so to speak, there are still many traditional yorkies who carry recessive genes that have not shown themselves yet because these carriers have not been bred to another dog who carries the same recessive gene for off colors.

I don't think anyone really knows how "crowded" the genes in our traditional yorkies are, we only know and see that these off colors are popping out of traditional lines.
