Linda,
I was able to get Petey back from the first vet, borrowing some money from a friend and making outrageous payment arrangements to them for my next 4 paychecks to boot. Within 24 hours of coming home, another stone stopped him up. The first vet said that they could do nothing more for me since I still had an outstanding bill with them. He needed surgery! I happened to text my daughter my distress and she told me about a friend of hers whose brother-in-law was a vet. She contacted her friend who told me to call them ASAP. I did and told them my financial situation and Petey's condition. They had me come in. Thank goodness! They examined him and said that he would die that evening without surgery to remove the 4 stones in his bladder and the stone(s) that had stopped him up again. They agreed to do the surgery and wait to get paid for it until I got the other vets bill taken care of. They even took $200 off the bill after they saw the outrageous bill I had already. So, the long and short of it is that Petey is fine now, but neutered. Both vets said that the scar tissue formed from removing the stones from his penis would make it difficult, if not painful to do his duty if I were to breed him. Also, there was still the small chance that he had the genetic disorder that contributed to all this. That has not been confirmed yet, as the stones are still out for testing. Petey had his check up yesterday and is back to his old self. He remains on the Prescription C/D diet and will remain on it from here on out, unless the stone test results come back and show that he should be on a different diet. I tell ya, I cried for two days as I watched him dying, until I found the second vet. One cool thing...he is more trusting of me now. He comes to me for me to pick him up much more readily than ever before. He has lost a few ounces, but he should gain that back quickly now. He is currently just under 5lbs. Also, I know you are still waiting on payments...I was originally going to get you some more money in OCT, until this happened. I know that my payment 'plan' hasn't worked out anything like I expected it to, and I am sorry for that. One thing you can be sure of though, Petey is loved very much and I am doing everything in my power to take care of him and make him as happy as he is making me.
