Yes, they can grow in spurts. My Beamer was the little one in my litter. At about 8 weeks, he was already bigger than his sister and had longer legs and length, but still rather square. Then he grew longer.. in fact we used to joke that he needed an extra pair of legs in the middle to balance him out. That was at 8 months. Now he is again rather square again although long and tall. He is now 6.5 lbs. His sister who was bigger at birth is only a little over 4 1/2 lbs right now and has always stayed rather square. So they all are different.
