What's going on in California and many other states due to an unfortunate foreclosure crisis is families that have lost their homes are scrambling to find a place to live with limited funds and resources. In some instances these families feel forced to leave behind family pets when they have located new housing arrangements. It could be they rent an apartment that doesn't accept pets or are forced to live with relatives where their pets are not welcome.

I have seen several reports on the news encouraging people to contact shelters for guidance and help locating suitable accommodations for their pets and/or help locating pet friendly housing.

Its indeed unfortunate that these people have had their lives so destroyed that they abandon the ones from which their unconditional love comes. Having not been in that position I can only imagine the emotional toll of the situation. There are going to be way too many folks in this situation before it gets better.
