I'm happy to see some of you in Houston checking in and hope that the one's who haven't are just out of power and nothing more serious. Where I live, in Brenham, we are on the "evacuation route" and we've pretty much been unable (or unwilling) to get out on the highways. I'm out in the country with two highways to get into town - one of them being 290. It really is incredible to go out to the highway and see cars packed for miles and miles plus what you can't see beyond the hill is cars for many, many more miles. I would hate to have to sit in that! My best friend's sister lives near Johnson Space Center and has no idea what happened to her house. She evacuated to her mom's house (here in Brenham). I sure hope they have flood insurance! My husband's uncle works in Houston at the JPMorganChase building. We heard this morning that the 75 floor building had most/all/some (??) of the windows blown out. Ouch! Imagine going back to work to that mess! We got quite a bit of rain and wind but probably the worst thing is that we're missing part of the roof from an old barn on our family property out here and our power was only out for about an hour this morning. That's nothing compared to what we're seeing on the news so we are quite lucky.
We'll be praying for all of those who had to evacuate that you'll have minimal or no damage to your house/property when you return. Be safe getting back!
