You can follow them with a measuring cup or ladle and try to catch it or some people tip a pee pad over (plastic up) and have them pee on that and then empty it into a cup. That gives bacteria a good chance to mix with the urine though. It is best to have the vet take it (possibly cystocentesis) or catching it midstream (with a cup or whatever) isn't too bad.
