I was teaching my group of 4th graders and a coworker came in crying because she couldn't reach her sister in NY. The principal came on the intercom and told us to close all windows and lock our doors (our school is next to major university). The children knew something was wrong and a little girl started running towards the door shaking and crying. I stopped teaching and just read stories to them as one by one they all went home. During my lunch time that day I went to pick up my girls at school and left them with grandma. I remember the craziness as I drove back to school and I remember how scared I was. The days that followed all we could do was think about the families and victims of this horrific day in our history. |
