My girl climbs straight up! X-Pens and baby gates are nothing to her. They have cord protectors you can put over your electric cords to help with this problem. I don't know how well they work, they didn't have them when I needed them. Don't leave anything plugged in you don't have to and close doors to rooms when you aren't home.
