My first thought was, "Was a parent holding her hand when she was on the escalator?" Doesn't sound like it. And if not, I definitely blame the parents.

People need to see these shoes for what they are: similar to going around in flip flops and not safe for all activities. They've been banned in a number of hospitals and nursing homes here because of people getting hurt on the job. They may be comfy, but they have their limits with safety.
