My husband and I were at his Aunt's funeral. We were standing in the funeral home getting ready to leave when his cousin came in crying and told us. Her husband is a civilian worker at the Pentagon and she and her sister left right then to drive back to Virginia. After the funeral we all went back to his Uncle's house and just stood around the tv crying. I was the president of the school board and I was on the phone with the superintendant throughout the day. We had many students who had family members working at the WTC. Luckily they all made it home that day.
Sadly, my sister's dear friend lost her brother. His story made the news because his wife had just had a baby and he'd taken two weeks off. He went back to work 9/10.
God bless all those who's lives were forever altered by 9/11.
And, yes, Megan, we did all sit down and talk about it. I'm kind of glad you were too young to comprehend the significance of what happened.
