I was at work--I'd started a new job a month prior--and was in our benefits orientation. The building sat on top of a mountain here just outside of Birmingham and you could see all the way to the city. There were still planes in the air that had not been grounded and of course we could see them all from where we were and froze to watch what was going to happen everytime we saw one.
I also remember that Alabama and Southern Miss were supposed to play at that weekend and I had tickets and all college games were cancelled. They rescheduled and played the game the end of November, at Legion Field, at night, in freezing rain and I was already sick as a dog and went anyway. |
