Sophie went into kidney failure at about 14 weeks, about 3 weeks after we brought her home. We nearly put her down, but our wonderful vet saw that my husband and I and Sophie were already very bonded and tried desperately to save her life. She was on weekly fluids for a time and seemed to turn the corner, but when we went to have her spade, the vet found that her blood work was still off. So they gave her more fluids to bring it up and finally did the surgery. She did just fine. She continued fluids weekly for two years and is now a healthy 7 y/o. She has never had an ultrasound. We don't know what caused kidney failure, and we don't know if they are 100 % today but her blood work is good. Whenever she has teeth cleaned we get the blood work to make sure.
