All of you fellow Texans be careful on your way.... We haven't quite decided when and if we are going.... I'm just off the coast in Beaumont and we are a bit worried as the track is beginning to inch toward Galveston... That would put us on the "dirty" side and generally a bad place to be.... We were hammered by Rita a few years ago, not so much fun! I'll spend tomorrow packing up the kennel and kids and we'll be off on Friday if needed....
Yea! we just unpacked from Gustav!! BTW, I think one poster mentioned folks not taking pets since they have access to evac on public trans... Remember, our 211 system is not for everyone here, you have to "qualify." A lot of folks are on their own without any assistance and have to find a pet friendly hotel or shelter.... that is not an easy task or can be a very very costly one. During Gustav hotels were charging 100.00 per night non refundable deposit for pets and most shelters were not taking pets..... We are fortunate as we have family all over the state and they know to expect 3 kids, and 10 Yorkies (plus 5 puppies born Wednesday) and 1 cat....
