I wish you lived near me! I'm trying to talk my mom into get a dog. I think it would be wonderful companionship for her. She's never had a dog as an adult and is now retired and home alone. I think she's getting bored and lonely. We're starting to look in our area for an adult as I think it would be better for her then a puppy.
