and i know that my house didnt get flooding and that i shouldnt STILL be feeling these feelings, but..... i lived there.... i saw it everyday. the smell is something i will never foreget.
the students that did return went to night school at another high school and then switched to a junior high school in the day time. til this day i cry about it. my old high school still isnt rebuilt and wont be in the process until 2011.

now that Gustav passed by.. some people still dont have power. my school was delayed a whole week. it definatly brought back some feelings.
i have pictures if anybody would like to see...
thanks for letting me vent
Who can blame you sweetie??? Katrina was HORRIBLE! It was horrible to watch on the news, nevermind to imagine the devastation there and the toll that took on residents of the state. I cannot say I have been through a severe weather crisis like that. I live in New England and we mainly get 3ft of snow at worst. Its definately not FUN but also not devastation like hurricanes, tornados, etc...

You are not mandated to FEEL a certain way because you did not lose your house or whatnot, you feel how you feel and its OK to feel that way. Maybe when the time is right you can move away from your area and try to start over somewhere else in the country where you feel may bring you more peace of mind regarding the weather and the bad memories you have. Personally I think you are a Katrina survivor and thriver, I admire you!
