Both legs were done at the same time. Small dogs can handle it and can recover quickly. They do shave the entire leg & behind area. It is best to have them stay over night, as long as it is a 24 hr place, with ppl there checking and monitoring all the time. I had Roxy stay longer, as I knew she would be cared for there. Recovery is NO JOKE. Yes it is approx. 8 weeks. I bought an expen (Play Yard) from Walmart approx $50 - and I only used 4 panels to make a box. Roxy stay in there most of the time, with pee pads, bed, food and water. As each week goes by, they can have a little more 'out time' but NO running, jumping, playing, etc...This is major and serious surgery. After a few days they will feel fine and want to return to normal, but they can't - they do not realize they just had knee surgery and need to rest and heal. Any deviation can cause the surgery to fail.

I am here if you need to know anything else
