I have the same problem so I bought a canopy so I can have a covered area in my backyard. I haven't put it up as yet but it was raining like crazy last night and I couldn't get him to go out. He held it until it stopped but then I had to deal with the wet grass. I'll see how this work until the snow comes. At this point I will try anything.
